The ENDOWMENT FUND International Youth Forum are inviting you to take part in the
IV. International Festival of Advent and Christmas Music
“The WINTER SONATA PRIZE 2011”
The Czech capital Prague opens its gates and invite choirs to its charming center decorated for Christmas. We are inviting music choirs and orchestras from all over the world; your songs and performances will contribute to a truly heartwarming atmosphere of Christmas.
The festival will be held by the International Youth Forum ENDOWMENT FUND, under the patronage of City Hall of Prague.
Choirs are eligible to join the festival either as non-competitive choirs participating in all the performances of the festival, or as competitive choirs.
The Festival is open to Mixed, Men’s, Women’s and Children’s Choirs and Chamber Vocal Ensembles, Orchestras and music bands in following categories:

CATEGORY B „Superior“ Boys´ choirs
CATEGORY C „Superior“ Mixed youth choirs up to 25 years
CATEGORY D„Superior“ Women’s choirs
CATEGORY E „Superior“ Men’s choirs
CATEGORY F „Superior“ Mixed choirs
CATEGORY G „Superior“ Chamber choirs
CATEGORY A 1 Children’s choirs up to 12 years
CATEGORY B 1 Children’s choirs up to 16 years
CATEGORY C 1 Boys´ choirs (sopranos, altos, tenors, bassos)
CATEGORY D 1 Youth choirs up to 19 years
CATEGORY E 1 Mixed youth choirs up to 25 years
CATEGORY F 1 Cleric and church music a capella
CATEGORY G 1 Folk music
CATEGORY H 1 Spiritual, gospel, jazz
Orchestras and music bands
CATEGORY A 2 Orchestras and music bands up to 16 years
CATEGORY B 2 Orchestras and music bands up to 21years
CATEGORY C 2 Adult orchestras and music bands
The time limit on performances is 15 minutes. The program can consist of advent or spiritual music either a cappella or with instrumental accompaniment (a piano will be available).
• In the Festival take part the Choirs and music bands from all over the World, which desires to perform its cultural work.
• The age of participants is not restricted.
• The Festival organizers look forward to hosting professional and amateur choirs and choral ensembles.

or to the fax: +420-267911783. The final date for application is 10.10.2011
• All the changes in the contest program after 20th. of October 2011 is not permitted.
Jury
An international jury comprising of distinguished professionals will judge the competition on the following criteria:
A/ choice of the works and program dramaturgy
B/ technical level of the interpretation
C/ artistic impression
Maximum of 100 points, the medals will be awarded as follows:
60,00 - 74,99 points: bronze
75,00 - 89,99 points: silver
90,00 - 99,00 points: gold
100,00 - Grand Prix
Prizes:
Each choir will receive a diploma with the certification of the results. Upon proposal of the jury, other prizes of the festival will be awarded; for the best performances from the point of view dramaturgy, voice culture, or conducting. The jury decisions are final, no appeals may be made.

The 1st. Laureates, will get the free tour to the EUROPE FESTIVAL TOUR
The winners will be invited to the summer festival in the South Bohemia !!!
Accommodation and entertainment program:
Each choir including the conductor, accompanying people and bus drivers shall pay its own travel expenses, expenses on accommodation and food.

FESTIVAL FEE (for participants and accompanying persons)
All travel and accommodation expenses are cover by the participants. The Organizing Committee of «Winter Sonata» festival will assist in arranging and providing the accommodation, catering etc…
Festival competition payment: 280, - EUR per one group.
In case the choir (ensemble) takes part in some categories, every category must be paid.
"Package 1" - 99 EUR per 1 person in the group from 21 persons. (in 3* stars hotel)
• 4 nights in in 2 or 3-bed rooms (bathrooms for two rooms)
• two meals a day ( breakfast & dinner)
• sight-seeing according to the program
• Opening ceremony
• public concert performances with other choirs
• final awarding ceremony with gala concert
• complete of festival information material
"Package 2" - 119 EUR per 1 person (in 3* stars hotel)
• 4 nights in 3-bed rooms or standard double rooms, with bathrooms
• two meals a day ( breakfast & dinner)
• sight-seeing according to the program
• Opening ceremony
• public concert performances with other choirs
• final awarding ceremony with gala concert
• complete of festival information material
"Package 3" - 149 EUR per 1 person (4* stars hotel)
• 4 nights in 3-bed rooms or standard double rooms, with bathrooms
• two meals a day ( breakfast & dinner)
• sight-seeing according to the program
• Opening ceremony
• public concert performances with other choirs
• final awarding ceremony with gala concert
• complete of festival information material
21st. person in group is free of charge!
The program cost includes:
Accommodation, Two meals a day, Excursion according to the program
The price doesn’t include: visa, insurance, and everything what are not including to the point “the program cost include”.
Festival payment: 280,- EUR per one group.
Extra payment for the transfer during the festival is 69EUR per person
• The transportation serves we will clarify after getting the application form with the exact number of the participants (because it depends on the number of persons).
After receiving your application form the group receives the invoice for the first advance payment 500EUR, witch will be including to the original invoice. The remained payment can be paid either through bank 20 days prior to festival. If the group reduces the number of participants the hotel price is not paid back.
TERMS OF PARTICIPATION IN THE FESTIVAL
• The Festival is a charity event; there is no reward or compensation for the participants.
• The Festival participants are to cover travel and accommodation costs at their own expense. The Organizing Committee provide: accommodation, catering and sightseeing program agreed upon and confirmed by the participants.
• A participant choir is to provide printed promotional materials (in English) to be published as posters, booklets and catalogues of the Festival (the resume is not more that 20 lines); each choir participant will get a free catalogue with information on all the Festival performers;
• Each choir / Orchestra or music band will get a Diploma of Festival;
• Every participant can bring along his own audio/video CDs, DVDs and cassettes with the recordings of the group and sell them during the performances.
All the events of the Festival will be covered by mass media - press, TV and radio.
Materials on the choir (including photos, audio/video CDs, DVDs and cassettes) mailed to the Organizing Committee will be used in all the promotional materials related to the Festival.
TO BE PART OF THE FESTIVAL – WHAT WE REQUIRE
1. For the participation in the Winter Sonata Festival–Contest it is necessary to send: the following documents to the Executive management by fax +420-267911783 or fill the application form online http://www.jsgroup.cz/en/application--summer-/
- Completed application form
- Typed competition program including compositor’s name, title and duration of the piece.
- A CD recording of the choir / Orchestra or music band
- A photo & short biography of the choir / Orchestra or music band (in English; max 20 lines)
- Three copies of the scores of the works to be entered for the festival.
- The planned festival programs, including times and accompaniment or a-cappella
2. After the receiving the application form – we will send you the invoice for the first advance festival fee 500 EUR (* this festival fee could be refundable in case if the participants will not get the visa to the Czech Republic or Schengen states).
3. For the first invoice the participant should send the following information : a) Post address of the organization , b) Number of the bank account, c) Telephone and fax number, d) The full name of the organization
4. After the receiving festival fee 500 EUR on the festival account, the participant will receive the original invitation to the festival (by DHL & by Fax). For the invitation is necessary to send the following information: a) the list with the names of all participants in the group, b) date of birth and number of passports of all members of the group
5. Groups which demand the transfer should submit the arrival/departure information (date and exact time)? Of the train/flight, railway station/airport, train destination. Before 15 days of arriving!
6. The organization committee always opens to help to solve all questions with the embassy if the participants need it.
7. Organization of stay, half board, transfer (participant’s meeting and seeing-off), and excursion for newcomers are provided only by the Executive management of the Festival-contest.
8. Transport expenses concerning coming to the Festival and returning back shall be pay by the sending party or by participants themselves.
